Workshop on Networking Strategies for the Modern Professional
Posted on 16 Aug 2024

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a workshop on "Networking Strategies for the Modern Professional" for third-year students on August 16, 2024. The event featured Er. M. Athistaraj, a 2019 alumnus and Engineer 2 NOC at Wipro, Pune, as the resource person. He discussed the process of handling tickets generated during network failures at the customer end and explained the roles of L1 and L2 engineers, highlighting that L1 engineers have limited write permissions, while L2 engineers have full read/write access to tokens.

Additionally, he covered the maintenance responsibilities of engineers, including tasks related to modems, firewalls, switches, and access points (APs). He mentioned the use of ZABBIX software for IP assignment checks and explained how FortiGuard, a firewall feature, acts as a web filter to block harmful websites. He also noted that some companies use Meratel instead of firewalls to manage their networks and discussed the use of Aruba technology in managing switches.

The workshop was organized by Dr. G. Aravind Swaminathan and coordinated by Dr. E. Manohar.
