A heartfelt greeting to the resource person is extended by Dr. R. Samuel Hansen, HOD-MECH. The expert resource thanked the management for offering him this opportunity.
The guest lecture emphasized how environmental concerns, such as reducing carbon footprints and minimizing waste through the use of eco-friendly materials and circular economy models, are becoming critical for businesses. Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) were introduced as a tool for evaluating a product’s environmental impact, from sourcing raw materials to disposal. These practices notonly reduce environmental damage but also align with increasing consumer demands.
Ethical considerations were another focus, highlighting the responsibility companies have toward fair labor practices and responsible sourcing. The speaker addressed the challenges of ensuring transparency within global supply chains, particularly regarding materials like conflict minerals. Ethical product development also involves maintaining transparency in communicating product sustainability claims to avoid greenwashing.
