FX Alumni Association organized a guest lecture in association with department of Mechanical Engineering for the Third year Mechanical students. Er. K.Vignesh., Marine Engineer., SRIHARI Fire N Safety Engineering PTE. LTD., Singapore  delivered the guest lecture on Risk Management in Maritime Industry. A heartfelt greeting to the resource person is extended by Dr. R. Samuel Hansen, HOD-MECH. The expert resource thanked the management for offering him this opportunity.

The maritime industry, serving as the backbone of global trade, encounters a myriad of risks ranging from operational to environmental, regulatory, and technological. The lecture aimed to enlighten students and faculty on the critical aspects of identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks in the maritime domain. The various risks prevalent in the maritime industry, categorizing them into operational, environmental, regulatory, and security risks. Operational risks include ship collisions, grounding, or mechanical failures. Environmental risks comprise oil spills, marine ecosystem damage, and weather-related navigational challenges.

The lecture delved into various risk mitigation strategies, such as the adoption of advanced navigation technologies, rigorous training for crew members, implementation of safety and security protocols, and adherence to international regulations like the International Safety Management (ISM) Code and the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
