Guest Lecture on Ruby on Rails Framework

The guest lecture on the topic “Ruby on Rails Framework” was conducted on 04-08-2023. The resource person for the guest lecture was Er. Anto Brain, (Alumnus 2015 Passed Out), Senior Ruby on Rails Developer, Mahindra Logistics & Co-founder of Lake Side Lab Pvt Ltd.                      Dr. G. Aravind Swaminathan, Welcomed and introduced the resource person. The resource person interacted with the third year CSE students. He taught about ruby on rails framework. He explained about class, object, method, variable, strings and the oops concepts. He said that ruby on rails is a web development framework to create web apps. He said that this framework follows MVC architecture. He explained about the pros and cons of ruby on rails. He taught about external libraries which is called as Gem in ruby on rails. He taught about the security features in ruby on rail. He explained about http and https. He explained about MVC architecture. He taught about the three important topics in ruby on rails. He taught about active record, association in ROR and Routing. In active record he taught about model definition, CRUD operations, query interface, associations and validation. Under association in ROR, he explained about belongs to, has one, has many, has many through and polymorphic association. Under routing he taught about URL and HTTP Methods such as Get, Post, Put and Delete. He explained about the various routing techniques such as basic routing, resourceful routing, custom route and nested route. He also taught about rails migrations such as create to table, add columns, remove columns, add an index and drop a table. He advised the students with some positive quotes. Dr. E.
