The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a guest lecture on "Exploring Hybrid App Development with Flutter and React Native" on August 31, 2024 for the 3rd Year CSE Students. The session was led by Mr. P. Sankara Isai Selvam, a 2022 alumnus and Hybrid Mobile App Developer at Samsidh Software Solutions, Andhra Pradesh. The event began with a warm welcome by G. Aravind Swaminathan, followed by an introduction of the speaker by Dr. E. Manohar.
During the lecture, Mr. Selvam delved into mobile app development, clarifying that React JS is not a prerequisite for React Native. He explained the components of React Native, noting that there are 21 components in total. He emphasized that a basic understanding of JavaScript is sufficient to learn React Native, and students with knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript can easily grasp it. Mr. Selvam also discussed Flutter and its roadmap, covering topics such as user interface design, GUI, buttons, to-do list task management, checkboxes, and weather apps. He mentioned that while front-end development with CSS and JavaScript is essential, Flutter can be effectively used on the back end.
Mr. Selvam encouraged students to practice coding independently using online resources. The session concluded with a lively interaction between the students and the speaker. Dr. E. Manohar delivered the vote of thanks, and he also organized and coordinated the event.
